International Women’s Day- Sunday, 8th March 2020

We’re celebrating women and equality this week at Mao!

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. To celebrate, we’re introducing you to just a few of the fabulous women behind Mao. Get to know their stories and what makes them tick!

We are proud to have a team from all over the world, who speak many different languages, who live many different cultures and beliefs. Together, we are a large Mao family!

What we all have in common is a passion for the Mao brand, delivering Goodness every day.

Nikoletta Emma Brunner

Nationality: Hungarian

Tell us your Mao story…

I began working with Mao 11 years ago,  as a Quality Service Manager in Mao Dun Laoghaire. I then progressed within our Group, challenging myself with versatile positions in our sister brands.

My career in hospitality has gone from strength to strength and I am now a District Manager in Mao.

When did you start working in hospitality and why do you love it so much?

I started working in hospitality in 2007. It’s the people I like the most in this industry, and the ever changing environment where I can utilise all the skills I’ve learned and developed over the years.

It’s great to be part of a team where your days are filled with joy without prejudices over gender, religion or race.

What makes you passionate about the Mao brand?

Living with type 1 diabetes for the last 17 years made me realise that a healthy diet is essential for your overall well being. Mao and I both are passionate about fresh, wholesome and nutritious food.

Fun fact:

I turn the music down in the car when reading a street sign or when I’m parking to “see better”!

Szilvia Pusztay-Nyul

Nationality: Hungarian

Szilvia is the newest member to our management team in Mao Stillorgan, joining us 7 months ago in July 2019. Szilvia works across both brands; Mao Restaurant and Mao at Home, and is always wearing that high-watt beaming smile of hers.

An avid cook and baker, there’s only one word for Szilvia’s cooking- mouth-watering!

Roberta Kelli Theodoro Germano

Nationality: Brazilian

Roberta has been part of the Mao Stillorgan team for over 2 years and is a much loved member of the Mao family. Roberta is a professional Lawyer in Brazil and moved to Ireland in 2017 with the goal of becoming fluent in the English language.

She was initially only meant to stay in Dublin for 8 months but has been here for 2 years and 4 months and is almost finished her masters degree in Dispute Resolution!

Nothing makes Roberta happier than hanging out with family and friends, travelling and unwinding with a good TV series.

Anchalee Wiangwalai (known to her friends as “Ice”)

Nationality: Thai

Anchalee, or “Ice” as we call her, has been leading the Mao Donnybrook team for the last number of months, originally joining the Mao Stillorgan team where she worked for over a year.

Ice is the proud owner of a popular tourist bar in Koh Samui, Thailand, and has lived in Ireland for the last couple of years with her husband and son.

Ice is absolutely crazy about rugby and is Ireland and Leinster Rugby‘s #1 fan! (…it’s a good thing Mao are sponsors!)

When she’s not avidly watching a rugby game, Ice can be found cooking up a storm.

The next time you visit Mao, be sure to say hello to our wonderful team. Happy International Women’s Day from all at Mao.
